Birding, Bird Photography and Wildlife Photography Tours
It’s always been a great experience on every tour. Rajesh’s passion for birding, his rich field experience and knowledge is at a different level. Please continue doing the same good work and we look forward to many more trips in our quest for great birding and experiences.Sunil Kini
I have known Rajesh Panwar for quite some time now. Had planned a trip to Munsiyari couple of years back, unfortunately I could not make it. November 2019, finally did a trip to Munsiyari. It was a wonderful trip beautifully planned and managed by Rajesh ji. Unfortunately this time he could not be with us for some urgent personal work of his. But he did show few special birds near Kaladunghi like Great slaty Woodpecker, Brown-capped Pygmy Woodpecker etc. which happened to be my lifers then.
I had met Sheela Panwar first time at DNP, Jaisalmer where she was leading a birding group in Feb 2019. I had gone there to see the Finsch’s Wheatear.
I have known both Rajesh and Sheela well for quite some time now. They are wonderful souls, very modest and always eager to help. Birdingwise they have immense knowledge on account of their passion for birds and extensive travels all over India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and some countries abroad.
Would love to travel with Avian Trails to various birding destinations soon once the covid situation gets resolved. All the best wishes and love to them… Dil Se 😊Pranjal J Saikia
Rajeshji is one of the wonderful person to be with for any birding tour. Never felt as a commercial tour. Though my first meeting with him at Milieu camp in Feb 2016, first extended birding trip was Munsiyari December 2016 and that was an amazing experience of hospitality with personal touch apart from seen many lifers including Cheer and Koklass Pheasant and definitely Golden Bush robin. Discussion about birds with afternoon tea with beautiful view of panchachuli. The most memorable experience at Nagaland trip during 2018 with home made sweets from his life partner and talk about his life journey from promoting home stay to birder.Nitin Sevak
There is always something special expected from your trips with Rajesh . He has worked very hard over the years to enhance his own knowledge on Birds of Indian Sub continent through innumerable trips all over the country . He is a keen observer and always helps his guests to get good sightings and photos of the Birds. I have known him for more than a decade now and have travelled with him to various destinations in India.
I have the privilege of staying nearby his home so meet him several times throughout the year. You get more lucky if you visit their home and meet Sheela ,his wife who is herself a good Birdwatcher and a wonderful host. I am looking forward to join Rajesh for more trips in the future and wish him great success for his future.Kaajal Dasgupta
I have done 8 birding trips with Rajesh, in which 2 of them had Sheela as a participant or should I say co-guide ! Every single trip was a memorable one. Obviously my maximum lifers were seen during these trips with him. Considering my age he always helped me in sighting and sometimes even clicking rare and difficult birds. Sheela and Rajesh are a wonderful couple, lively, courteous and understanding. Accommodation and food have been always wonderful and well planned . My only regret is that Cheer pheasant, the topmost in my wishlist has been elusive during my 2 trips to Munsiyari with him 😀. I wish to do many more trips with Avian Trails in future too. I wish Sheela and Rajesh very best in their future endeavors.Chandralata Raghukumar
I first met Rajesh at the Kafal House at Pangot, in March, 2016, where he had come with Colonal ( now Brigadier) Goel, who was all praise for him as he had ticked most of the birds, he had set out to see.I stayed with Rajesh many times at his Camp Mileu and kept on bumping into him at Sattal, several times where fellow birders, whom I had met at OMH or Thattekad would speak highly of him.
It was during one of those Sattal trips in 2018 that I told him that I would want a seat in his February, 2019 trip to Munsiary, which he agreed.
I eagerly waited for that trip and went into the trip with modest expectations as the weather could play truant in winters.
It turned out to be a fantastic trip. We not only got to see and Photograph the elusive Cheer Pheasant and the Golden Bush Robin, despite the weather playing truant , we got to experience his ability to manage adversities.
When heavy snow blocked our way out of Munsyari and landslides limited the options of local birding, Rajesh changed tack to drive through the Madkote-Didihat to Chaukori where we got to see Gold-Crest and some close up shots of many species.
The Food was great and stay very comfortable. There were heaters, hot water, early morning Ginger tea and hearty breakfasts.
Never saw him cutting corners from ordering deserts to a second helping of a Rabri. Even when weather forced a destination change hotel accommodation was great.
We closed our memorable trip with a bird list of 144 with 10 lifers and seven new friends for life.
Rajesh is the best Bird guide I have come across in the five years of birding. He understands the terrain, habitat and the birds pretty well. He under promises and over delivers.
More importantly he understands photography, his birds and the requirement of each guest.
Later I planned a Bhutan trip with him in April. 2020 but that got cancelled due to Covid.
I am now keenly looking for that postponed Bhutan visit, maiden trip to Nelong and Ladakh ..

Have done few but exclusive tours with Rajesh. Sunderbans, Srilanka and Andamans. All the tours very well arranged. Rajesh sees to it that all the endemic species are covered. Have seen him taking pains in searching for the same. His partner Sheela madam is equally enthusiastic in sighting for birds. Waiting eagerly to visit Kaladhungi atleast once. All the best Rajesh and Sheela for all your further tours. And may all your dream tours get covered in the near future.Jyotsna Gogte
Rajesh of Avian Trials, firstly a great human being and equally an avid nature lover who with his amazing luck, helped me and us to get photographs of some unique species that are not only rare but it’s once in a lifetime experience. He is not only passionate towards his responsibility to show you what you want but also is extremely caring at tough weather and extreme situation.
Photography is an art and it exhibits your skill, your imagination, portraying through a frame. And here Rajesh helps you too.
Being in the 1000+ species category, I still feel that to start over again with Rajesh for all those species that I photographed and to end with Rajesh that are still pending.
I wish him luck

I would say best tour I ever attended.. you have very good birding, photography and interpersonal skills which is a deadly combination for running this tours
I have got some negative feedback before joining your tour that you always gets best shots before the participants even find the bird.. but I realised that it is not true and made by people who lacks spotting skills..So keep up your good work🙂. Eagerly waiting to join you for more toursKamal Hari Menon
